My main lathe is a Oneway 12-24 and I use the Oneway rotary vacuum adapter. |
I have an air compressor quick connect male and female setup to make my connection as needed. |
My vacuum hookup is a homemade plumbing nightmare with the air compressor quick connect, a ball valve to
bleed off excess vacuum, a small vacuum gauge, and reinforced hose over a barbed fitting with a hose clamp. The other end of the
flexible hose is a barbed fitting, clamp, and quick connect to the vacuum pump. |
My vacuum pump lives underneath the lathe on a shelf with the loose end tucked in there until
needed. The light switch on the front of the pump setup turns it on and off and the bleed valve up near the headstock allows me to position the
work and control the amount of holding force. |

While not particularly clever, I simply run the hose out the front of the shelf as needed. It doesn't really get in the way. |
Here's a look at a portable vacuum pump I use for demos. It's the same basic setup as the one under the
lathe but easier to get photos of. On/off switch on the ac to the pump on the front of the box. |
A convenience duplex on the back for other power needs. |
Both ends of the box open to allow for air flow. This end with the inlet. Quick connect to an
air compressor filter plumbed for air flow direction to the inlet of the pump. Utility box for wiring. |

Other end of the box with the exhaust plumbed through some piping to route the exhaust to the muffler
and keep it inside the footprint of the box. |
Not the prettiest but quick and easy to grab and take along as needed. I actually swipe the connection
line from the other lathe and use it for the connection from the pump to the lathe since I'm too lazy to make up another connection
setup. |
